We need to keep our ears open for the word of God. To hear the true message. Time and again God mentions his love for the poor. Do we hear their problems? Food, warmth, good health. Understanding from the various civil servants they must deal with. At this time of the year St. Vincent de Paul and the local foodbanks are visibly carrying out God’s instructions. Everywhere, advertising is persuading families that luxuries are really necessities and are their due. Perhaps some of our discretionary dollars could go to the Vinnies and/or the foodbanks.
