The Gospel isn’t a private feel-good panacea
To insist that God makes public demands is scandalous in a society which rejects sin and absolute truth. Jesus speaks of the cross as a baptism of fire. John was the only apostle who didn’t die a martyr. God is love but the Gospel isn’t a private feel-good panacea. At our Baptism we entered death with Jesus in order to rise with him. Only in the Body of Christ can we hope to walk the talk for the sake of the joy set before us. Where is Jesus challenging you to the scandal of the cross?
