Master

This is a love story pure and simple. Mary’s love was raised up to embrace the risen Lord. Here are elements of intimacy and privacy not recorded in other Resurrection stories. It is a picture for all time of the sure place of contemplative love in active discipleship. Contemplative love is warm, tempting a disciple to cling to it. Here Jesus says it must be a salient love shared with others. No wonder Mary called Jesus master. What other word would do?
