Psalm 145, Isaiah 49:8-15, John 5:17-30
A song of praise
Psalm 145 is the A to Z of praise. Each verse begins with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet. There is not a hint of lament here, no anguish at God’s non-appearance, no complaint about his silence or seeming indifference. There are no requests, no deep questions, no gut-wrenching confessions of sin. Just pure praise. This is a psalm to read out beneath the echoing arches of a great cathedral. It is a psalm to sing out with a full heart and many hallelujahs. It is a psalm to live out day by day by day.
