Give yourself time

Garth Hewitt writes,
“Are you writing in the dust while you get your thinking clear?
To give yourself time, to listen and to hear?”

Self-help books are full of ways to maintain self-control, and to improve our relationships.

But here is Jesus, quietly and patiently, teaching us how to create a space before we judge, before we condemn, before we speak. He shows us how to look into our own hearts to find the reason for our action, our emotion, and our preconceptions.

This time allows us to hear that quiet voice that says, “Love. Only love.”
