Take an ‘Advent step’

John the Baptist’s famous cry rings through Advent: prepare the way! Become spiritually prepared to welcome the Saviour. Advent gives us the opportunity to engage the heavy earthworks machinery of spiritual and human excavation; spiritual earthworks in the bringing of past faults, memories, mistakes to the sacrament of reconciliation; filling in valleys, making paths smooth, repairing relationships with family and friends. What is a little ‘Advent step’ to make today to move into a real participation in the spirit of advent preparation?
