Weeds among the wheat
Why does God allow sin and suffering? Clearly, this was a mystery to the people of Jesus’ time, as it is for us today. In this parable, Jesus compares evil to weeds growing freely among the wheat. It seems that he is telling us to be patient because finally goodness will prevail. Perhaps the lesson for us is that our prayers, our good works, and our efforts to make a difference in our world will definitely bear fruit. Are we able to trust that at the end of our lives we will see how God was working in our lives and in the world even when all seemed dark and stormy?
