Jeremiah 11:18-20; Psalm 7; John 7:40-52

“I trust in you”

Jeremiah’s words speak not only of his own future but also of that of Jesus – “like a trustful lamb led to the slaughter-house.” They prepare us for the coming Holy Week. The psalm reminds us, though, that Jesus has committed his cause to his Father. “I trust in you.” Meanwhile, the people in the Gospel can’t make up their minds…” Surely he is the prophet… there’s never been anyone like him.” They have yet to commit… how strongly have I taken that step?
