Life and light

Today’s Gospel reading gives us the whole sweep of the good news about Jesus Christ. He was with God before anything existed outside God. At the dawn of time with the Father the pre-existent Christ created the universe. At a given moment he took on full human-ness to become our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. Or, in the words of our Gospel reading, he gives us life and light. With the new year hard upon us it is time for us to resolve what we can do in 2022 to live more in the Light and to grow in the Life.
