Happy day for parents and grandparents

That church tradition names Mary’s parents reminds us that parents’ influence on children is significant. As Mary responded to the angel at the incarnation, we see a confident young woman of courage and faith. The Holy Spirit gave her the grace to make the decision; but her parents’ formation instilled her with wisdom and discernment. As we reflect on the parable of the tiny mustard seed and the yeast which disappears into the bread, give thanks for the mostly hidden work of parents, grandparents and those who fill that role in teaching children about faith and life.
