Jesus’ Way

We begin our journey for Lent with Jesus of the synoptic gospels. In Matthew, Jesus teaches from the Mountain with a warning: “When you give a gift, do not let anybody know. When you pray, do not let other people see. When you fast, do not make a fuss. Do everything quietly in the secret of your heart.” The Pharisees’ hypocritical code of conduct is fragile for the building of God’s Reign. In this Ash Wednesday, we are invited by Matthew to re-fertilise the soil of our heart in Jesus’ Way.
