Love your enemies

Jesus tells us to pray for those who persecute us. What would I pray? “Lord, bring them their comeuppance!” “Lord, take them out of my life!”? Might it be better to put ourselves in their shoes – “Lord, heal the damage in their life that has caused them to treat others this way. Let them be open to your restoring Spirit”. That way, they may repent, as Ahab did. Also, we may be more understanding of where they are coming from.
