Ministry

The actual details of the call of the twelve apostles are missing in Matthew’s gospel. What we do know is that they are to share intimately in the mission and ministry of Jesus through powers of healing and the gift of preaching the gospel. Their call to ministry comes from Jesus and takes its entire purpose from him. We know from all the gospels that it took a long time for all of these apostles and disciples of Jesus to fulfil their potential in ministry - a fact which should give us all confidence as we seek to follow Christ today and equally as we call others to share in our ministry.
