Temptation in the desert

The deserts of our lives can be places of temptation. The ‘desert’ can be when we are alone or lonely, afraid or in turmoil. We can turn to things which don’t provide what we really need in the mistaken hope that they will take away our suffering. During Jesus’ 40 days in the desert, he was faced with such temptations. Filled with the Holy Spirit he was able to rebuke the devil. It is good to pray that the Lord will save us from the time of trial.
