Hearing and Responding

The story of the life of St Teresa of Avila is that of a woman who entered the Carmelites and, over the course of years, came to understand through prayer and reflection that God was calling her to an ever-closer relationship and to a more committed way of life. As a result, she founded a more radical form of the Carmelites and devoted herself to establishing more and more convents – often in the face of great opposition. She understood what God was asking of her and she responded – something that the crowds of Jesus’ time failed to do. What is God asking of us through our own prayer and reflection?
