VISITATION of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Zephaniah 3:14-18; Canticle Isaiah 12:1-6; Luke 1:39-56

Blessed is she who believed

Believing the angel’s message and accepting the invitation of God, Mary’s response was then to visit her cousin Elizabeth to stay and help her with the coming birth. Mary not only gave support, but she was also welcomed by Elizabeth with reassurance and confirmation that all she had experienced in Nazareth was true; “blessed is she who believed the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled”. That is so often the case when we trust God and follow his call – we will get the support we need once we have set out. Let us always proclaim the greatness of the Lord.
