Spirit of the law

To live by the spirit of God’s law means going beyond simply staying within the letter of the law. Indeed, to keep the spirit of God’s law is the only real guarantee we are keeping God’s law as God intended because, as Jesus said, God causes the sun to rise over the good and the bad, and the rain to fall on the honest and dishonest alike.

If we care only for those we like, or those who will return the favour, how are we different from those who do not believe in the Christ?
