Parable of Trust

The parable of the talents is famous, but do we understand it? It was based on a real event - when Herod the Great died in 4BC, Archelaus had to go to Rome to be confirmed in Herod’s place and the Jews sent a delegation to speak against him. Listeners would have understood the story. The parable tells of the trust God has in us, that He is testing us, and that the reward of hard work for Him is more hard work. We betray that trust at our peril.
