St Luke, Evangelist

The faithful servant

Little is known about St Luke. In Colossians, Paul writes that Luke is a doctor, and that is probably true, considering the compassionate awareness in the gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. In these two books, Luke wrote a full account of the birth and ministry of Jesus, his death and resurrection, and the growth of the early church, yet Luke does not promote himself in any way. Surely this tells us all we need to know about this faithful servant.
