The Jesus sideshow
In today’s gospel we see Jesus’ frustration with a crowd looking for novelty. They wanted entertainment, magician’s tricks, signs that Jesus was a prophet from God. He rebuked them because they were like children demanding toys. I suppose we are sometimes like that. Our faith has the benefit of hindsight and sound teaching, and we are fed with his presence, yet we can still live on the surface, seeking miracles. All the time we know there is nothing in this world, absolutely nothing, that is not a miracle from God.
