Forgive and forgive and forgive
Bishop Tutu’s book, ‘No future without forgiveness’,covers his reflections as Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa, exposing atrocities and enabling reconciliation after Apartheid. His title says it all. We have no future if we can’t reconcile. So Peter’s question of Jesus about how many times we ought to forgive, is our question too. Our forgiving is grounded in honesty, yes when we have been wronged and it hurts but our deeper ground is knowing that we are recipients of God’s startling forgiveness.
How can I today celebrate God’s mercy?
