Genesis 2: 7-9, 3:1-7, Psalm 51: 3-6, 12-14, 17, Rom 5: 12-19, Matthew 4: 1-11

Sword of the Spirit

Three times Satan attempts to seduce Jesus. Each is equivalent to three temptations the Israelites faced in their desert wanderings. They failed the three tests. Jesus overcame. He teaches us to foil the enemy with Bible verses; the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. Why not give more time to reading and studying the Scriptures as a Lenten exercise this year?
