Christmas: presents or presence?

As we get closer to Christmas, we have another episode involving John the Baptist and Jesus. Yet the deep question of John is the basic question of Christmas and its meaning: Is Jesus the promised saviour from God, or do we need to wait for someone else? All of our life turns around this question. When Jesus is recognised as our Saviour the meaning of Christmas is transformed. As you make preparations for Christmas, are you primarily preparing presents or celebrating presence?
