First Sunday of Advent (Year A)

Isaiah 2:1-5; Ps 122:1-9; Romans 13:11-14; Matthew 24:37-44

Stand ready

We now experience a change in emphasis in the readings and there is a feeling of expectation and rejoicing. And there is the urgency to be ready. In Romans we hear “the time has come”. We are in the light and the darkness is overcome. So let us live lives worthy of the Light that is to come. Let us be ready as we anticipate the birth of the Saviour who will bring salvation. “Maranatha, Come Lord Jesus.”
