Christ the King

2 Samuel 5:1-3; Colossians 1:11-20;
Ps 122: 1-5; Luke 23:35-43.

Peace

This feast was established early in the 20th century when the world was in chaos. It celebrates Christ and his dominion over the world. He is the eternal King and has the power of eternal life.

The beautiful and familiar words from Colossians speak of Christ “the first born of creation...and all things created through and for him...and he holds all things in unity”. Verse 20 concludes with “he made peace by his death on the cross”.

We yearn for this peace in our world. Christ brings peace in eternity through his death on the cross.
