Honours at table
To serve rather than be served, to use my position and skills to advance justice, to speak up for those who are overlooked or shut out – and countless other examples from the Beatitudes – these will not win us wealth or much approval around town. On the contrary, we may well be excluded and impoverished ourselves. But at the table of the Lord, recognition will go to those who have lived and loved after his own heart. Here are honours of true and lasting value. It is not complicated. The choice is ours.
