Do not be afraid
The disciples were used to the challenges of fishing on a lake; conditions were often dangerous. Jesus appears in the dark and at first they are frightened, not recognising him. His reassuring words, “It is I. Do not be afraid,” settle them and their immediate task is quickly and safely over. It is a reminder that Jesus is with me in my challenges and worries. Do I take the time and risk of listening for his voice, “It is I. Do not be afraid.”
