Psalm 51; Hosea 5:15-6:6; Luke 18:9-14

A genuine heart

As it says in Psalm 51, God has “delight in sincerity of heart”. In Luke this is the point of the parable – the sincere, contrite sinner speaks from the heart and acknowledges they are a sinner before God. For all the people we have offended, for all the times when we fell short of love, for our wonky thinking like the Pharisees, God help us give our contrition. It is a great relief to know that God is full of tender love and is always ready to offer us forgiveness.
