A model for prayer
Moses’ encounters with God and his ongoing intercession for his people are inspirational. He speaks with God as with a friend, intimately, authentically, honestly and face to face, yet never diminishes his recognition of the unfathomable glory of God. We hear that God is tenderness and compassion, slow to anger, rich in kindness, faithfulness, and forgiveness, while also holding humanity accountable. Moses acknowledges the sovereignty of God and the headstrong nature of people, then humbly asks God to care for them, forgive them and adopt them as His own. We might use his model for prayer today.
