Compassion

There are two actions that attract my attention in this narrative: the actions of the leper and the movements of Jesus. The leper begged, fell on his knees and spoke. Jesus felt for the leper, touched his sores and spoke. “If you will, make me clean,” said the leper. “It is my will, be clean,” replied Jesus. I saw faith in the leper and compassion in Jesus. We are invited by today’s gospel to ponder Jesus’ compassion for the leper and for ourselves. Jesus’ compassion makes him approachable for healing and for our wholeness too.
