Sunday 10 January
The Baptism of the Lord
Isaiah 42:1-4,6-7; Psalm 29: 1-4,9-10; Acts 10: 34-38; Mark 1:7-11
Born for this moment
The baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan marks the beginning of his public ministry. The Spirit of God sends him out to proclaim the Good News of God’s Kingdom. He was born for this moment. He spent years with Mary and Joseph being formed for this moment. Now his time of silent, hidden preparation is over. This, too, is the reason why we were born, were baptised, were formed in the Faith – to announce the Good News of God’s Kingdom. Do we begin each day thinking of how we can do this?
