Make straight his paths
Today’s readings once again invite us to get ready for the arrival of Emmanuel, God-with-us. The prophets, Mary, and John the Baptist all looked forward to the coming of the Messiah. Advent reminds us that we too need to prepare, to make room for him to live and love in and through us. So often our inner selves are noisy, distracted, or perhaps full of resentment, anger or fear. Or maybe we are just caught up in the hectic rush to buy presents! Perhaps in fact our time is far too full for Jesus to be able to enter our hearts and minds. How might you prepare the way of the Lord?
