Do not lose heart

How often have we prayed for something or for someone and yet our prayers seem to go unanswered? At times, such silence can be truly painful! Is God indifferent to us? Our faith tells us that God is all good, that he knows what is best for us. When we pray, then, we should remember that we have begun a conversation, not a monologue. Prayer is an opportunity, not only to speak, but also to listen. Is the painful silence inviting us to measure our desires against the goodness of God, the values of the Kingdom?
