Mourning into gladness
Jeremiah speaks in God’s name saying: “I will change their mourning into gladness, comfort them, give them joy after their troubles”, and once again we see Jesus’ disciples perplexed and saddened by Jesus’ repeated affirmation that he was going to suffer and die. They did not seem to hear him say that he would rise again. Isn’t that just like us? Suffering comes to us all in one form or another and in the midst of it we ask “Why Lord?” Those are the times when it is so hard for us to believe that our God will always make everything work together for our good if we can only trust him, and believe that our mourning will truly be turned into gladness!
