Giving and receiving

In this Gospel passage we see Jesus giving of himself to the point of exhaustion. Perhaps his early morning retreat to a deserted place was not only to pray but also to replenish his physical strength. Each of us is called to announce the Good News wherever we are, whatever our calling. As we give of ourselves day after day, trying to bring God’s love to all we come in contact with, we too will need to find desert places where we can be alone with our God to be strengthened by his love for the next part of the journey.
