Attentive to God among us
St Peter Julian Eymard (1811-1868) was a member of the Society of Mary before founding congregations of men, women and lay apostolates for worship of the Eucharist. The Eucharistic framework is drawn from Judaism. We are called to be people who ‘remember’ and celebrate God’s action throughout history with feasting and fasting. Just as Jesus was not accepted in his home town, familiarity with Jesus can mean we struggle to recognise the wonder and power of God in our midst. How might feasting, fasting and community celebrations of life, help you be more attentive to God’s presence in daily life and in Eucharist?
