A new covenant
God made a covenant with Abram, a promise to give him heirs of his own flesh and blood and a vast expanse of land for his inheritance. The people of Israel lived out that covenant as God’s chosen people. Within their history, there was the promise of a new covenant and the coming of a messiah who would be saviour and who would free God’s people from their sins. The gospels and the books of the New Testament are the story of that new covenant.
