Very costly ointment
We need tenderness in our life of faith. Tenderness reaches into the reservoir of love in us and in the other. I noticed the other morning how carefully this young student held the hand of a homeless man crossing the street. Our daily life is punctuated with tenderness. Here Jesus is at home, these sisters and brother have embraced him long ago. Mary exemplifies tenderness as she holds his feet that are about to be cut, bruised, and carried for burial. In the midst of moments of pain, can we reach for what is costly, beyond price and care. Reflect today on the examples of tenderness that were part of your day.
