Can You Bear It?
From a poster in a church in France … “When you enter this church it may be possible that you hear ‘the call of God.’ However, it is unlikely that God will call you on your mobile. Thank you for turning your phone off. If you want to talk to God, come in, choose a quiet place and talk to him. If you want to see God, send him a text while driving.”
A man who was unemployed for months was desperate to find a job, so he went to Taronga Zoo to apply for a job. The director said they weren’t looking for new staff, but as the man turned to leave the director noticed how big he was. He stopped him and said, ‘Wait. I have an idea. Our gorilla died a couple of weeks ago and he was our main attraction. It will be months before we are able to get another gorilla. Would you be willing to dress like a gorilla? It would really help us out of a jam.’ He was desperate to work, so he took the job. The work was incredibly boring, so to liven things up a bit he started doing some tricks and really putting on a show. Before long, huge crowds were gathered to watch what they thought was a real gorilla. One day, while showing off, he was on a rope swinging out over the lion’s cage when the rope broke. He was terrified as he noticed a lion approaching him. He was afraid to scream for help, as he thought he might lose his job, but was afraid that if he didn’t yell for help he might lose his life. So, he yelled out, ‘Help! Help!’ And the lion said, ‘Shut up! Do you want to get us both fired?!’
