Foundation in God

Jesus, the teacher, for most of his life, was a carpenter. Most likely, he worked as a day-labourer building houses in the variable climate of Galilee. The parable of the two builders ends the Sermon on the Mount (Matt 5-7) in which, block by block, Jesus builds ‘the house’ of the way of following him. His way, for example, the Beatitudes, goes against the grain of wider society. ‘Floods’ and ‘winds’ will batter disciples. Living the words of Jesus and doing his work required disciples to have deep foundations in God. How do I build those deep foundations?
