June and July were very tough at Challenge 2000 where I work. Car accident deaths, attempted suicides, suicides and poverty stretched our resources and gospel commitment to serve those on the peripheries. Humming the song “Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning” or “wax in my candle, keep me lighting” became incredibly essential! We were all reminded how critical it is to have a strong inner glow so we can be the light of Christ in the darkness. Maybe check your internal spirit oil level? Is it enough to keep you burning? You may need it.
