The Song of Zechariah

John’s father Zechariah proclaims timeless words. This canticle first acknowledges the coming of Jesus, then says that John is called to be ‘a prophet of the Most High.’ Is this so different from the way we are called? We know the ‘dawn from on high’ that breaks upon us to give us light in our darkness. We see how our lives are shaped by God, and we give thanks for the ways Jesus can touch the world through us. We too, were born to be witnesses to his truth. All of us! How do we live as prophets of the Most High?
