Choose life

This Lent the Lord renews his covenant with us. The Lord says, “See, today I set before you a choice – to choose life or death.”

To choose the life God offers is to pattern our lives on Christ, which means shouldering his cross daily through our service of others and to lose our lives for his sake, that is, to de-centre the self or ego, in order to leave room for him to enter in and to reign in our hearts. In this way, we will live by the command to love God and neighbour as we love ourselves.
