My Lord and my God
After incidents such as the one in the Gospel, the reputation of Jesus grew. People wondered who he was. Mark told us, as he began his Gospel: “the Good News about Jesus Christ the Son of God.” Was Jesus just a miracle worker? The question lingered throughout his public life. Even the disciples were slow to realise who he was. While Jesus was on the cross, a pagan centurion acknowledged that he was more than just a special man: “In truth, this man was a son of God.” Is Jesus just someone out there for me, or my friend and my God?
