Slaying Goliath
There’s always somebody who is my Goliath. I ask, “How might I slay him or her?” David said “the Lord, who rescued me from the claws of lion and bear, will rescue me from the power of this Philistine.” I could imitate David and cleverly kill my Goliath. But what did Jesus do? Jesus’ Goliaths were the watching Pharisees. Is it against the law on the Sabbath to save life or to kill? Jesus didn’t kill, but gave fresh shape to a withered hand. He defeated his Goliaths by giving life and love. Now that’s a good idea!
