St John of the Cross

Embrace the cross

The intense spiritual life of St John of the Cross is known to many. He suffered darkness and doubt in his following of Christ. John the Baptist in the gospel today is praised by Jesus as a great prophet. For their love of Christ, both of these Johns were willing to undergo great suffering to be faithful to him. We should not be afraid of the cross, but try to embrace it. Without the cross there is no resurrection.
