It seems strange for Jesus to praise the steward who seemed to cheat his master. Perhaps, though, the debts were so great that a good discount was the best chance of having them paid! The steward’s motive wasn’t the best – but good things happened. Jesus often makes the best of our efforts, even if they’re not with the best of intentions. Take time today to thank him for turning your sometimes doubtful deeds, into good.
