the Holy Name of Mary

Colossians 2:6-15, Psalm145, Luke 6:12-19

Hidden but known

This is a day for Mary, her special day. Alleluia! Apart from all the titles given her, who is this woman called Mary? How do I keep Mary’s name day holy? Is it through Marian devotion, which is good, or is she more a person present to me through the Gospel? Looking for Mary in the Gospel, I find her always close to her Son. Sometimes she is so close it is impossible to see her. Her name is not often in print. But she is there and knowing her as an evangelical woman is helpful to any disciple of Jesus Christ.
