Meet and greet

St. Paul exhorts the faithful to be holy, not to give in to immorality. The Gospel tells us what happens when we are not wise enough to live with heaven in mind. Holiness is much more than avoiding the pitfalls of the immoral world, the Gospel much more than a moral code. Holiness is a spiritual work with a loving, practical outcome. It often feels like maintenance work, boring but hopeful of being uplifted. Holiness keeps me gracefully alert, focusses my everyday life on what is important, ready to greet and meet Jesus Christ when I least expect him.
