I will be their God

The promise expressed in today’s first reading is fulfilled in Christ. In Christ, God has made an eternal covenant with us. Jesus died so that once more we might be one with God. God’s acceptance of his sacrifice was confirmed in his resurrection. We cannot but stand in awe at what has been described as the ‘appalling’ goodness of God to us, who gathers us in unity with God and with one another.
